Tuberous breasts (or tubular breasts) are a result of a congenital abnormality of the breasts which can occur in both men and women (also see Hypoplasia), one breast or both. During puberty breast development is stymied and the breasts fail to develop normally and fully. The appearance of tuberous breasts can potentially be changed through surgical procedures, including the tissue expansion method and breast implants.
Dr. Marcos Sforza is renowned for his detailed understanding and treatment of tuberous breasts, offering patients a compassionate approach combined with technical precision. Recognising the unique challenges and sensitivities associated with tuberous breasts, Dr. Sforza ensures a personalised treatment plan is developed for each patient. His goal is not only to correct the physical aspects of the condition but also to enhance the patient’s self-esteem and comfort with their body.
Tuberous breasts are a congenital condition characterised by the abnormal development of the breasts. The condition can vary in severity but often involves a restricted base of the breast, herniation of breast tissue into the areola, enlarged or puffy areolas, and asymmetry between the breasts. This condition can impact one or both breasts and is noticeable by the tubular shape of the breasts, which is markedly different from the typical breast shape.
Breast Augmentation: To address the lack of volume and the tubular shape, breast augmentation with implants can provide a more rounded appearance and create the desired breast volume.
Tissue Expansion: In cases where the skin is tight and limits the expansion of the breast, tissue expanders may be used to gradually stretch the skin, making it possible to fit breast implants or perform further reconstructive techniques.
Mastopexy (Breast Lift): A breast lift can correct the droopiness that often accompanies tuberous breasts, raising the breasts to a more natural position and improving their overall shape.
Areola Reduction: Due to the tendency for the areolas to become enlarged or puffy in tuberous breast conditions, areola reduction can be performed to achieve a more proportionate areola size and improve the aesthetic appearance of the breasts.
